Recap of Students Involved with Technology Conference

Student Tech Leaders from both Niles North and West presented on technology topics at Stevenson High School, which hosted the Students Involved in Technology (SIT) Conference.

Our Tech Leaders presented various topics, from “publishing your writing safely on the web” to “working in the cloud” using web 2.0 services such as Google Apps. Our more advanced Tech Leaders showed their peers how they could sync their cloud services with apps on their phone to make homework reminders easier and keep up-to-date on practice schedules for sports or clubs as well.

What surprised our Tech Leaders was the amount of information the middle school audience members already had! Many of these 7th and 8th graders are already learning to manipulate Adobe Premiere and use a green screen to create fantastic backgrounds for their projects.

It may seem that our up-and-coming freshman have a step up on technology, but we always encourage everyone to stop by the AAL Help Desk and participate in our workshops. If students need more of a one-to-one learning model, they can sign up for individual tutoring as well.
